What an emotional night. Honduras led US 1-0 with 6 minutes left. We were supposed to be much better than Honduras. I was about to lose faith. So what happens? We then score 2 goals in the last 6 minutes to win 2-1!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I was distributing programs, I had my US flag wrapped around me. Just my luck, mob after mob of Hondurians comes thru the gate I was working at. One minor about 15 years of age said, "I'm not taking a program from you because you're supporting USA." Hahaha. There's a country you are living in and receving benefits from, called the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Don't like it, then go back to Honduras. Wonderful how these parents teach their kids to forget the country they are living in.
Many of the Hondurians asked if the programs are free. No fuckin' shit! If it wasnt free, would I be handing it to you like that?
It was funny how the Hondurians were talking shit and taunting us since they were about to win. They immediately silenced and felt humiliated when we won. Once we won, me and the Sam's Army crew (hence my journal icon lol) sang, "Ole ole ole gringo gringo!" lol
But the Hondurians were great fans. They showed lots of class and were polite. We shook hands with them after the game.
US will now play in the championship final vs. Panama to see who is the best out of the North and Central American region. I stayed for the second game and saw Panama shock Colombia 3-2.
I really wish there was more US support. Now I know why they never schedule US matches in NY/NJ. The Hondurians outnumbered us by 9-1.
